South Africa vs. Senegal

Senegal hasn’t lost to South Africa since they battled on the field in January 2015. The Coach of the South African team was very aware of the pressure he was under. If the team didn’t win against Senegal, fans would have been very disappointed especially after the South Africans’ failed attempt to qualify for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Bafana Bafana were awarded a penalty after 43 minutes due to a handball. Abdoulaye Diallo beautifully transformed this chance into a goal. At that point South Africa was leading 1-0. In a few minutes, the team was about to double their advantage after the amazing goal of Thulani Serero. Refusing to surrender, the guys from Senegal kept pushing their opponents and have finally managed to score a goal thanks to Cheikh Ndoye.

Nigeria vs. Algeria

Victor Moses, the star of the famous English football club Chelsea, scored twice in Uyo. In the 25th minute, Moses scored the first goal of the game. His colleague, john Mikel Obi who also plays at Chelsea, score the second goal later on. Algeria’s player Nabil Bentaleb had a few shots at the Nigerian goal but he sadly missed from closed range. However, he did manage to score once from 25 yards.

The Nigerians weren’t discouraged though and they continued their attack through Moses who scored the last goal of the game, settling the score at 3-1 in favor of his team. Nigeria is currently at the top of Group B thanks to the draw of Cameroon with Zambia.

Burkina Faso vs. Cape Verde

After this victory, Burkina Faso moves up to the top of the Group D charts with 4 points. The ones responsible for the 2 goals of the match are Banou Diwara and Prejuce Nakoulma. Bafana Bafana is in second place, followed by Senegal.

Uganda vs. Congo Brazzaville

The two teams confronted each other at Kampala. After 18 minutes, the young player of Standard Liege (Belgium), Farouk Miya scored the first and only goal of the match that would bring victory to Uganda taking them to the top of the group with 4 points. The team had many other chances but none of them resulted in a score change. Midway through the second half, Uganda’s midfielder Tony Mawejje was injured and had to be transported off the field on a stretcher.
